Interactivity C: Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA)
Behaviourism is a widely used strategy for guiding and motivating learners with exceptionalities and is proven to be very successful for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Using positive reinforcement, instructors can help students with autism distinguish what behaviours are appropriate. Praise and rewards are used to increase useful classroom behaviours (looking, listening and imitating) and to reduce behaviours that may interfere with learning (distraction, low levels of participation).
